LASTING Powers of attorney

What is a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) ?

There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorneys

1) Personal Welfare Lasting Power of Attorneys and

2) Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorneys.

A Personal Welfare LPA allows your Attorney to make decisions about your personal welfare including where you live, your medical treatment and your day to day care. You can place restrictions on what decisions your Attorney can or can't make for you.

A Property and Affairs LPA allows your Attorney to make decisions relating to your financial affairs allowing them to carry out tasks such as to pay bills from your account for you, buy/sell property on your behalf or claim benefits for you. Again you can place restrictions of what your Attorney can or cannot do and what financial assets they can have access to and which they can't.
